2 new websites, 1 experiment, and 1 pony

Just a quick update, that I've added 2 new websites I programmed to my portfolio; as well as a pony to the design portion. I've also done a little house cleaning, like adding recent projects on the sidebar wich replace my static Flickr feed with a dynamic RSS driven one. I have dopne some little things behind the scenes as well, such as putting all animation effect on the shoulders of script.aculo.us. =)

Oh and 1 last thing, I've added a little CSS prototype to experiments I've been working on recently. Cheers!

rants by a fool goes live

A good buddy of mine has always had some crazy things to say, and he had started expressing through on Facebook Notes; however being the web-developer I am, I just couldn't allow him to write on such a confined space. I then told him my grand plan to make a wordpress blog so that the world can see his insane ramblings.

A couple days of good work and i had pulled together a workable wordpress blog that looks quite nice! By installing a ton of back end features such as SEO optimization, stats keeping, etc people should start to see his site 'round the web. Best of all, Facebook has an RSS reader so the fans he had on Facebook wont be left high and dry.

Anywho without further a due, I bring to you Rants by a Fool. I've updated my portfolio accordingly as well.

experimental section added

I've been working on a lot of projects lately, and while none have gone live, and probably never will, I still deem them usable! Seeing as they don't entirely fit into my portfolio section, I've decided to devote a section entirely to my incomplete but still cool works. These can range from a tiny script to a full blown design.

Look for the new section on the top menu bar. Also, in keeping with this sites style, this new addition is of course, without a page reload. Cheers!

Survivorman goes live

After quite a long development time, survivorman has gone live. I had been working on this site for some time, getting the styles right across all browsers. Surprisingly Opera and Safari were among the most troublesome browsers to get working properly, however it got done with some minor hacks. IE7 however is another story. It seems IE7...sucks; not a big surprise mind you but something to keep in mind. It got so bad at a point I had to use a browser detection PHP script just to inject a simple style into the html if the browser was IE.

I've updated my portfolio accordingly. Enjoy!

Wiicade v3 goes live!

I'm very proud to announce that WiiCade Version 3 has finally gone live! After months of working on the design and front end, she had finally been released to the public. It's not just a visual upgrade, we have included many new function to help make navigation and submission easier for the user. Go take a look and enjoy!

I've also updated my portfolio to reflect the new site.

here we go again!

So I'm at it again, skinning my website for the 3rd time now and I'm pleased to say, gone are the page reloads! This time however I've gone allot more for design and functionality using some standard web 2.0 stuff, like script.aculo.us, lightbox v2, prototype and Spry(ok Spry isn't web standard but it's still pretty nifty). I'm still trying to avoid using a bunch of images but sometimes it's kinda hard! Although I think this time around I'm at a total of 2 images; the logo and the little background image behind the menu.

I've also added an rss feed reader in the form of my recently listened to music. I ran into a couple problems however, seems rss feeds are quite finicky. I had scoured the net for a solution to accessing an external rss feed, and found a php proxy. It's quite simple, all you do is append the external rss feed your string to parse onto the end of your url with this snippet "proxy.php?proxy_url=". Crazy what people can do with computers these days. I plan on making my flickr pseudo-feed more live (it's 4 static images right now).

new skin!

Hello again! I've decided to make a new skin for my site, just to kinda keep sharp on my Design. It's also to play around with some CSS stuff and eventually some new Javascript code I'm working on. Any who you can check out the new skin here or go back to the old skin here.

This time I decided to go much more code derived rather than image based. I think in this whole new skin I have 6 images (not including the portfolio images). It's pretty cool how powerful CSS in that respect, that I don't need allot of images to make a good looking website.

Stay tuned for some more skins by the way, I have to admit it's quite dang fun making them in Photoshop and then Coding them using the wonderful Dreamweaver. Cheers =).

welcome!

Welcome to Version 3 of my website. My name is David B Stubbs, and as you can see on my Profile, I live in Toronto, Ontario. I'm a multi-talented, creative artist looking for a chance to prove himself.

I've been doing digital design for as long as I can remember. From complex 3d models to simple 2d doodles, I can do it. I have gone to school for a multitude of disciplines, ranging from 3d modeling for both low-poly and high-poly applications, to web and graphic design and coding. With the inception of WiiCade, I was inclined to get even better aquatinted with Flash, to the point where I even made a Mini-Game.

So there you have it, a nice synopsis of me, feel free to check out my portfolio =). Cheers.
